Disability Ambassadors

The Disability Ambassadors assist the Disability Resource Center with outreach efforts and presentations while gaining a deeper understanding of the office’s mission. Through this role, ambassadors will develop skills in communication, public speaking, networking, and leadership, enhancing their personal growth and experience at UF.

Ambassadors will also participate in monthly leadership and training opportunities to further their knowledge of accessibility and the resources provided by the DRC.

Disability Ambassadors Applications will open for late summer/early fall for the upcoming school year.

In-person interviews will follow the online application. Interview times will vary with days and times, so you can find ones that best fit into your schedule.

Following selection, you will be required to attend training. This will give you important information to support you in your role as a Disability Ambassador. You will also be asked to participate in various events run by the Disability Resource Center, including tabling and Ambassador planned events and meetings.

• Enhance communication, public speaking, and leadership skills through outreach and presentations.
• Build confidence and knowledge to represent the DRC at tabling events.
• Familiarize students with UF’s Disability Resource Center and campus accessibility resources.

• Commit to at least 2-4 hours per week for DA activities and meetings.
• Attend all bi-weekly meetings and mandatory training sessions.
•  Exhibit professionalism and represent DA and the DRC positively on and off campus.
•  Engage in collaborative efforts with other student organizations.
• Actively contribute to weekly meetings and group discussions.
• Participate in DRC/DA events (e.g., Disability Health Panel, Accessible Day at the Lake).
• Assist in tabling events and other outreach activities.
• Serve as a resource for students seeking information on campus accessibility.
• Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Florida and in good academic standing.
• Willingness to work in a team environment with other ambassadors, university staff, and student organizations.
